At VIP Nails & Beauty - Thorpe Astley in Leicester, one of the most frequent questions I get from clients is how to maximise results from their beauty treatments. After your beauty treatment, your skin has been gently worked on and may be a little more sensitive than usual. The right aftercare helps results last longer, keeps skin calm, and prevents irritation.
Here’s a simple guide to caring for each treatment between appointments.
Lash Lift Aftercare
A lash lift reshapes your natural lashes, so the first 24 hours are important.
Keep Them Dry When They Need To Be
For the first 24 hours:
Avoid water, steam and sweat
No swimming, saunas or hot baths or steamy areas
Avoid eye makeup and mascara
Try not to rub or touch your lashes
Moisture can interfere with the setting process, so keeping lashes dry helps lock in your results.
After 24 Hours
You can cleanse and wear makeup as normal
Avoid waterproof mascara if possible, as it can be drying
A conditioning lash serum or oil helps keep lashes healthy
Results usually last 6–8 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle.
Lash & Brow Tint Aftercare
Tinted lashes and brows may deepen slightly in colour over the first day — this is normal.
For the First 24 Hours
Avoid water, steam and heavy exercise
No oil-based makeup removers on the area
Avoid rubbing or scrubbing
Ongoing Care
Cleanse gently
Avoid exfoliating products directly over the tinted area
Sunscreen helps prevent fading on brows
Tint typically lasts 3–4 weeks before gradually softening.
Brow Lamination Aftercare
Brow lamination chemically reshapes the brow hair, so gentle care is key.
First 24 Hours
Keep brows dry
Avoid makeup, oils and skincare on the brow area
Don’t brush or manipulate brows
No swimming, saunas or hot baths or steamy areas
Try not to rub or touch your brows
Moisture can interfere with the setting process, so keeping brows dry helps lock in your results.
After 24 Hours
Brush brows daily into shape
Apply a nourishing oil or balm to keep hairs soft
Avoid harsh exfoliation on the brows
Results usually last 6–8 weeks.
Facial Aftercare (Calming / Classic Facial)
Your skin may feel fresh, glowy or slightly flushed — all completely normal.
For the First 24 Hours
Avoid makeup if possible
No exfoliation, acids, retinol or active skincare
Avoid heat: steam rooms, saunas, sunbeds and intense workouts
Avoid touching your face, yes I know it feels amazing
Ongoing Care
Keep skin hydrated with a gentle moisturiser
Use SPF daily to protect results
Let your skin enjoy its calm, balanced state
Dermaplaning Aftercare
Dermaplaning deeply exfoliates the skin, so aftercare is essential.
For 24–48 Hours
Avoid makeup if you can
No acids, retinol, vitamin C or exfoliation
Avoid heat, sunbeds and steam
Avoid touching your face
SPF is essential
Ongoing Care
Keep skin well moisturised
Stick to gentle skincare for a few days
Hair does not grow back darker or thicker
Skin will feel smoother and makeup will sit more evenly.
Facial Waxing Aftercare (Brows, Lip, Chin)
Redness or warmth is normal, especially on sensitive skin.
For the First 24 Hours
Avoid heat, sun, sunbeds and steam
Skip heavy makeup directly on waxed areas
Avoid touching the skin with unwashed hands
Ongoing Care
Keep skin clean and moisturised
Avoid exfoliation for at least 48 hours
Use SPF on facial areas to prevent pigmentation
