The Importance of Patch Tests

Patch tests aren’t about ticking a box. They’re a small but important safety step that protects your skin, your eyes and your long-term comfort during beauty treatments.
If you’re booking a lash lift, tint or brow lamination, I will ask you to come in for a quick patch test before your appointment. It only takes a minute and usually sits behind the ear or on the inside of your arm.
Here’s why it matters.
It checks for sensitivity before the real thing
Everyone’s skin is different. Even if you’ve had similar treatments before, your skin can still react to new brands, new formulas or seasonal changes. A tiny test patch helps us catch any sensitivity early so we can avoid redness, itching or discomfort during the real appointment.
Allergies can develop at any time
You don’t have to be “an allergic person” to react. Your body can suddenly decide it dislikes something after years of being fine with it. Patch testing is a simple way to check how your skin is feeling right now, not five years ago.
It keeps you safe and comfortable
Lashes and brows are close to your eyes and delicate skin. A patch test helps make sure everything goes smoothly so your treatment feels relaxing, not stressful. My goal is always comfort first.
Helps us tailor the right treatment
If you have sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or have reacted to beauty products in the past, a patch test tells me exactly what direction to take. Sometimes I'll switch products. Sometimes we skip tinting. Sometimes I opt for a different technique. It helps me pick the safest and best option for you.
It protects both of us
Patch tests are standard practice for professional salons because they give us both peace of mind. You know you’re in safe hands. I know I’m using something your skin is happy with.
What if you react
If your skin becomes itchy, red, swollen or irritated after a patch test, just let me know. It doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful lashes or brows. It just means I need to explore alternative products.
A quick step that makes a big difference
The whole process takes just a few seconds, and once it’s done you’re all clear to enjoy your treatment with confidence. It’s simple, fast and genuinely worth it for the reassurance it gives.
If you have any questions about patch testing or aren’t sure whether you need one, just ask. Your comfort and safety always come first.
